the vision of raider3 is an independently-produced and published entertainment feature of production r3. it is not necessarily a webcomic, a fanzine, or anything in between, but it does mutate into whatever fills a particular need at any particular moment. all opinions expressed are solely the opinions of the editor or content providers, and do not necessarily reflect the viewpoints and opinions of American Internet Communications, Inc. this page is LINK FREE - feel free to link to this site, and dropping me a line wouldn't necessarily hurt either. have fun!
raider3.com picture standards:: version 1.08, December 2003...
main : raider3.com picture standards

The following document defines how digital photographs will be presented on raider3.com. This document was inspired by AnimEigo's DVD Production Standards document. If any future digital photographs do not confirm to this standard, the deviations will be published on the corresponding web page location at raider3.com, or the appropriate networked site.

Upon posting, all digital photographs will conform to the following standards:

  • Pictures will be cropped and scaled to a maximum width or height of 320 pixels. This format was chosen after observation of pictures posted on the Linus Lam Network News pages at Usagichan.com, and was chosen to be the least common denominator between broadband and non-broadband users.
  • For reference, the Raider3.com picture file naming convention will be used. This code consists of:

    • The initials “R3”, indicating photo source origin. (R3 = Raider3)
    • A 6-character mnemonic code indicating what event and year, if applicable, the pictures correspond to.
    • The date code, following YY-MM-DD format.
    • The picture sequence number, not date-specific, but event specific, in 4-digit format.
    • Any distingushing characteristic codes, if there are several different variants of the particular picture, such as cropping, size, etc.
  • Digital photographs will feature a translucent “watermark”, bearing the “©raider3.com” designation, in 11-point Verdana. This watermark will be affixed to all photographs conforming to at least the maximum height/width of 320 pixels. (Update: As of Dec. 13, 2003, the decision was made to cease watermarking images, effective from that date onward. This was done after coming to the realization that, in my opinion, such a practice seemed elitist and pretentious, given the current state of raider3.com, plus it created additional work in image processing, resulting in a delay in posting images. Download off the camera, scale, cleanup, thumbtack to HTML, and upload is the way to go!)
  • Uniquely identifiable information, such as telephone numbers, and vehicle license plates (with the possible exception of appropriately-themed vanity/environmental license plates) will be digitally obscured, in order to protect owners' and organizational privacy.

You may feel free to save copies of images from within your web browser of choice, as long as credit is given to raider3.com for images depicted, and the raider3.com watermark is left intact in the image.
You may feel free to save copies of images from within your web browser of choice, and if you find them useful on your web site, feel free to me know, and I'll most likely link back to you. (However, if you choose to pass them off as your own, you have nothing but your own guilty conscience and shame to live with. Heh heh heh...)

Unless otherwise indicated, all digital photographs are copyrighted by Michael A. Fontes / Production R3 / Raider3.com, all rights reserved.

“Hot-linking,” i.e. the process of linking any graphics from raider3.com to other sites, in the interest of conserving bandwidth, and/or storage space for the referring site, absolutely will not be tolerated under any circumstances!

Hot-linking images draws bandwidth from raider3.com, and if the monthly limit is reached before the end of the current month, it means access to raider3.com may be involuntarily restricted, inconveniencing others who wish to visit this site, rather than passing on additional fees, or requiring the inclusing of advertisments, via banners, pop-ups, or pop-unders, in order to defray added costs of maintaining the site. I respectfully ask that you do not make me resort to those measures, by respecting my request not to hot-link images from raider3.com.

All would-be offenders are hereby put on notice that your IP addresses are logged everytime you visit this site, view a page, etc. Any activity under any particular IP or referring document that appears to conform to a pattern of hot-linking will be dealt with by one warning only, then immediate and permanent bans at the IP address level.
